Service Description
Experio is an online platform that connects users who want to experience or understand a place with local users who can provide location-based Experiences.
Users may use Experio to:
- Create an Activity requesting a local Host;
- Apply to become the Host for another user's Activity;
- Create their own Activities for other users to join;
- Participate in free or paid Activities;
- Communicate with other users through Experio;
- Receive or provide photos, videos, live video sessions, messages, and other Activity-related content.
The specific content, schedule, price, and conditions of each Activity are displayed within Experio before a booking or payment is confirmed.
Prices
The price of each paid Activity is displayed within Experio before the user confirms the transaction.
Activity prices may vary depending on factors such as:
- Activity type;
- Location or Hub;
- Duration;
- Number of participants;
- Deliverables;
- Other Activity-specific conditions.
Host-created Activities may be offered either free of charge or for a fee.
The total amount payable by the user is displayed before payment is confirmed.
Experio Service Fee
Experio may charge a service fee in addition to the Activity price.
The applicable service fee is displayed before the user confirms payment.
Unless otherwise stated or required by applicable law, the Experio service fee is non-refundable once the relevant paid transaction has been completed.
Other Charges
Users are responsible for any costs associated with accessing and using Experio that are not included in the Activity price, including:
- Internet access charges;
- Mobile data charges;
- Telecommunications charges;
- Device-related costs;
- Bank or card issuer charges;
- Currency conversion charges imposed by a user's financial institution or payment provider.
Any Experio-imposed charges applicable to a specific transaction will be displayed before payment is confirmed.
Currency
Unless otherwise indicated, paid transactions on Experio are denominated and processed in United States dollars (USD).
A user's bank, card issuer, payment provider, or other financial institution may convert the transaction into another currency and may charge currency conversion or foreign transaction fees.
Such third-party charges are determined by the relevant financial institution and are not controlled by Experio.
Payment Methods
Available payment methods are displayed at checkout.
Experio may accept payment through:
- Credit cards;
- Debit cards;
- Other payment methods made available through Experio's payment service providers.
Available payment methods may vary by country, account, device, or payment provider.
Timing of Payment
For Visitor-created Activities requiring the selection of a Host, payment is generally charged when the Visitor selects a Host and confirms the booking.
For paid Host-created Activities, payment is generally charged when a participant confirms participation in the Activity.
The exact amount and timing of payment are displayed before the user confirms the transaction.
Provision of Services
The timing of service provision depends on the type of Activity.
For scheduled Activities, the scheduled date and time are displayed before booking.
For Activities where a Visitor selects a Host to provide an Experience, the Host must complete the required deliverables within the Activity period specified in Experio.
Activity deliverables may include:
- Messages;
- Photographs;
- Video;
- Live video sessions;
- Other content or interactions specified in the Activity.
The specific delivery conditions are shown in the relevant Activity.
Activity Completion
A Host may mark an Activity as delivered after completing the required deliverables.
Where applicable, the Visitor may have a specified period to:
- Accept the completed Experience;
- Raise a dispute; or
- Report a problem.
If the Visitor does not take action within the applicable confirmation period, the Activity may be automatically treated as completed in accordance with the Experio Rules.
Cancellations by Visitors
Cancellation conditions depend on the type and status of the Activity.
Before a paid booking is confirmed or a Host is selected, a Visitor may cancel where permitted by the Experio interface.
After a paid booking has been confirmed or a Host has been selected, cancellation may be subject to restrictions.
Where a Visitor cancels after the point at which the applicable cancellation policy makes the payment non-refundable, the Host may remain entitled to payment in accordance with the Experio Rules.
Any applicable cancellation conditions are displayed before the transaction is confirmed or are available in the Experio Terms of Service and Experio Rules.
Cancellations by Hosts
If a Host cancels an Activity after being selected or after participants have paid to join, affected users may be entitled to a full or partial refund in accordance with the Experio Rules.
The Host may not receive payment for an Activity that the Host fails to provide.
Host cancellations may also affect the Host's account status, reliability record, or ability to participate in future Activities.
Refunds
Refund eligibility depends on the circumstances of the Activity.
A full or partial refund may be provided where, for example:
- A Host cancels a paid Activity;
- The agreed Experience is not provided;
- Experio determines through its dispute process that all or part of the Activity was not properly completed;
- A payment error occurred;
- A refund is required by applicable law.
Some fees may be non-refundable where this is clearly disclosed before payment and permitted by applicable law.
If a partial refund is approved, the adjusted amount will be determined according to the relevant Activity circumstances and dispute outcome.
Approved refunds are generally returned using the original payment method, where technically possible.
The time required for a refund to appear in the user's account may depend on the relevant card issuer, bank, or payment provider.
Disputes
If a Visitor believes that an Activity was not provided as agreed, the Visitor may raise a dispute within the period specified in the Experio Rules.
Experio may review information provided by:
- The Visitor;
- The Host;
- Activity messages;
- Submitted media;
- Relevant transaction records;
- Other information reasonably necessary to review the dispute.
Experio may determine that the Activity should be:
- Accepted as completed;
- Rejected;
- Partially accepted;
- Subject to a full or partial refund or price adjustment.
The detailed dispute procedure is described in the Experio Rules.
Host Earnings
Hosts may earn money by:
- Completing paid Visitor-created Activities after being selected as the Host; or
- Creating paid Activities that other users join.
The amount a Host is expected to earn from an Activity will be displayed or otherwise communicated before the Host accepts or provides the Activity.
Host earnings become eligible for payout only after:
- The Activity has been successfully completed;
- The applicable confirmation period has ended;
- Any dispute has been resolved; and
- Any other payout eligibility requirements have been satisfied.
Host Payouts
Experio may pay eligible Host earnings periodically using supported payout or money-transfer methods.
Available payout methods may vary depending on:
- The Host's country of residence;
- The Host's selected payout method;
- Available payment or money-transfer providers;
- Applicable legal or verification requirements.
Hosts may be required to provide payment, bank, identity, tax, or other information necessary to receive payouts.
Host Payout Fees
Where a bank, payment provider, money-transfer provider, intermediary bank, or other financial institution charges a fee for transferring Host earnings, such fee may be deducted from the Host's payout.
Examples may include:
- Bank transfer fees;
- International remittance fees;
- Payment-provider fees;
- Intermediary bank fees;
- Currency conversion fees;
- Other charges directly associated with transferring the Host's earnings.
Where Experio knows the applicable transfer fee in advance, the fee or method of calculation will be disclosed to the Host before the relevant payout where reasonably possible.
The amount ultimately received by the Host may therefore be lower than the Host's gross payable earnings where such transfer or conversion fees apply.
Experio will not deduct an undisclosed Experio service charge from Host earnings unless such charge has been separately disclosed in accordance with the applicable Experio terms.
Currency Conversion for Host Payouts
Host earnings may be calculated in USD while the Host receives payment in another currency.
Where currency conversion is required, the applicable payment provider, bank, or money-transfer provider may determine the exchange rate and may charge a conversion fee.
The final amount received by the Host may therefore vary based on:
- Exchange rates;
- Transfer fees;
- Currency conversion fees;
- Intermediary bank charges;
- Other third-party financial charges.
Minimum Payout or Payout Schedule
Experio may apply a minimum payout amount or process Host payouts on a periodic schedule.
Any applicable:
- Minimum payout threshold;
- Payout schedule;
- Payout frequency;
- Payment method;
- Transfer fee;
will be communicated to the Host through Experio or the applicable payout information before payout.
If the Host's payable balance is below an applicable minimum payout threshold, the balance may be carried forward until the threshold is reached.
Failed or Returned Host Payouts
If a Host payout cannot be completed due to:
- Incorrect bank or payout information;
- Account restrictions;
- Unsupported payment destination;
- Failed identity or compliance verification;
- Rejection by the receiving financial institution;
- Other circumstances outside Experio's reasonable control;
Experio may retain the amount as payable to the Host until a valid payout method is provided or the issue is resolved.
Additional transfer fees resulting from incorrect information supplied by the Host may be deducted where permitted by applicable law and disclosed to the Host.
Free Activities
Hosts may create Activities that are free for participants.
Where an Activity is clearly identified as free, no participation fee is charged by Experio for joining that Activity unless another charge is expressly disclosed before participation.
Users remain responsible for their own costs associated with participating in or providing an Activity, including:
- Internet access;
- Mobile data;
- Transportation;
- Venue admission;
- Personal equipment;
- Other personal expenses,
unless Experio or the Activity description expressly states otherwise.
Real-World Costs and Venue Charges
Unless specifically included in the Activity price, users are responsible for any real-world costs required to participate in or provide an Activity.
Examples may include:
- Transportation;
- Admission fees;
- Food or beverages;
- Parking;
- Venue fees;
- Other local expenses.
If a Host-created Activity requires participants to pay additional third-party costs, such information should be disclosed in the Activity description before participation.
Location-Based and Real-World Experiences
Experio Activities may involve real-world locations and circumstances outside Experio's control.
These may include:
- Weather;
- Crowds;
- Venue opening hours;
- Transportation disruptions;
- Event changes;
- Access restrictions;
- Local regulations;
- Safety conditions.
As a result, the exact appearance or conditions of a location may differ from expectations.
Hosts must comply with applicable laws, venue rules, privacy requirements, photography and recording restrictions, and the Experio Rules.
