Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Experio

What is Experio?

Experio is a platform that helps people experience places, activities, culture, and everyday life through local people. You can use Experio when there is something you want to see, understand, or experience in another place but you cannot be there yourself, or when you want to discover an Experience offered by someone local.

For example, you might ask a Host in Bangkok to walk through a night market and show it to you live, ask someone in Kathmandu to capture photos or video of a particular place, or ask a Host in Tokyo to show you what Akihabara looks like today. You could also ask someone near Mount Fuji to show the current view, visit a local festival on your behalf, or capture the atmosphere of a neighborhood you are interested in.

Experio is designed to make these interactions personal, location-based, and centered around genuine real-world experiences provided by people who are actually there.

How does Experio work?

Experio has two main ways to use the platform.

With a requested Experience, you describe something you want a local Host to experience or show on your behalf. You do not normally need to be physically present with the Host. Instead, you experience it remotely through a Live session, Videos, Images, and communication with the Host through Experio.

With a hosted Experience, a Host creates an Experience and invites Participants to join the scheduled activity through Experio.

Payments made through Experio are for the Host's time, effort, and delivery of the agreed Experience, together with any applicable Experio service fees.

What is the difference between a requested Experience and a hosted Experience?

A requested Experience starts with the Requester. The Requester describes something they want to experience remotely through a local Host. Hosts within the relevant Hub's range can apply, and the Requester selects one Host to fulfill the request.

A hosted Experience starts with the Host. The Host plans an Experience and publishes it for other Users to join as Participants.

In simple terms, a requested Experience is about finding a Host, while a hosted Experience is about finding Participants.

Who are the Requester, Host, and Participant?

A Requester is the person who creates a requested Experience and selects a Host to fulfill it.

A Host is the person who provides a requested Experience or creates a hosted Experience.

A Participant is a User who joins a hosted Experience created by a Host.

The same User can take different roles at different times depending on how they use Experio.

Can the same User act as both a Requester and a Host?

Yes. You do not need separate Accounts for different roles.

With one Experio Account, you can create requested Experiences, apply as a Host to other Users' requested Experiences, create your own hosted Experiences, and join hosted Experiences as a Participant.

What kinds of Experiences can be created on Experio?

Experio is designed for real-world experiences involving places, local life, culture, events, activities, and everyday situations.

For example, you could ask someone to explore a neighborhood, visit a landmark, show you a local market, attend an event, check the atmosphere of a place, share local culture, or show you something happening in another city or country.

Experiences must always comply with applicable laws and the Experio Rules.

Is Experio free to use, or is payment required?

Creating an Experio Account and browsing the platform are free.

Payment is required when you book a requested Experience or join a paid hosted Experience. The Experience price and any applicable Experio service fee are shown before you confirm the payment.

You are not charged simply for creating an Account or browsing Experiences.

Can Users earn money on Experio?

Yes. Users can earn money by acting as Hosts.

A Host can earn by fulfilling requested Experiences for Requesters or by creating hosted Experiences that Participants pay to join.

The amount earned depends on the Experience and applicable fees. Host earnings become payable after the Experience is successfully completed and any applicable review or dispute period has ended.

Hubs & location

What is a Hub?

A Hub is a geographic area where Experio Experiences are available.

A Hub may cover a city, destination, neighborhood, or another defined area. Experiences are connected to Hubs so that Experio can match requests with Hosts who are actually located near the relevant place.

Why does Experio use Hubs?

Experio uses Hubs to keep Experiences connected to real locations and local Hosts.

This helps ensure that a Host applying to a requested Experience is actually available within the relevant geographic area and can realistically provide the Experience.

Hubs also help Experio organize Experiences by location and expand the Service gradually into new cities and destinations.

Do I need to be within a Hub's range to use Experio?

Not always.

Requesters can create and manage requested Experiences from anywhere. Participants can also browse and join eligible hosted Experiences without being physically near the Hub unless the Experience itself requires otherwise.

Location requirements mainly apply to Hosts when they provide location-based Experiences.

When does a Host need to be within the Hub's range?

A Host must normally be within the relevant Hub's range when applying to a requested Experience.

Experio may also require the Host to be within the Hub's range when capturing Videos, Images, or other location-based deliverables. This helps confirm that the Experience is genuinely being provided from the intended location.

Can other Users see my exact location?

No. Experio does not show your precise location to other Users.

Experio may use your device location internally to confirm whether you are within the required Hub's range, support Experience functionality, or help prevent misuse.

Other Users only see the location information that Experio intentionally displays through the platform.

Requested Experiences

How does a requested Experience work?

A requested Experience begins when a Requester describes something they want a local Host to experience, show, or capture on their behalf.

The request is published in the relevant Hub, and eligible Hosts within that Hub's range can apply. The Requester reviews the available Proposals and selects one Host.

After the Host is selected and payment succeeds, the Host completes the Experience and provides the agreed delivery through Experio.

How does a Requester create a requested Experience?

The Requester describes what they want the Host to do, show, visit, or experience and chooses the relevant Hub.

The Requester also chooses how they want to receive the Experience, such as through a Live session, Video, Images, or a combination of these.

The request should clearly explain what the Host is expected to provide so that Hosts can decide whether they can fulfill it before applying.

How do Hosts apply to a requested Experience?

A Host who is within the relevant Hub's range can submit a Proposal for the requested Experience.

The Proposal allows the Host to explain how they plan to fulfill the request and, where relevant, suggest a suitable time for a Live session or other scheduled part of the Experience.

The Requester then chooses from the available Proposals.

How does the Requester choose a Host?

The Requester reviews the Proposals received for the requested Experience and selects the Host they prefer.

Once the Host is selected and payment succeeds, the Experience becomes booked.

The Host and Requester can then use Experio to coordinate the Experience and complete the agreed delivery.

What happens after a Host is selected?

After selection, the Requester and Host can communicate through Experio to coordinate the Experience.

The Host then carries out the requested Experience and provides the agreed delivery within the applicable deadline.

The Requester receives the Experience remotely through the delivery methods selected when the request was created.

How can a Host deliver a requested Experience?

A requested Experience can use one or more of three delivery types:

Live — The Requester joins the Host virtually in real time through a Live video session. The Requester can see what the Host is seeing, communicate with the Host, and experience the location or activity as it happens.

Video — The Host records a Video while carrying out the requested Experience and submits it through Experio for the Requester to watch later.

Images — The Host captures Images related to the requested Experience and submits them through Experio.

A request can include one delivery type or a combination of them. These delivery items allow the Requester to experience something remotely without needing to be physically present with the Host.

Hosted Experiences

How does a hosted Experience work?

A hosted Experience begins when a Host plans an activity and publishes it for other Users to join.

The Host decides what the Experience will involve, when it will happen, and how many Participants can join.

Users who are interested can join as Participants by completing the required payment, and the Host conducts the Experience at the scheduled time.

How does a Host create a hosted Experience?

The Host provides the important details of the Experience, including what Participants can expect, the schedule, location, price, and any relevant participation information.

Once published, the Experience becomes available for Users to join until the available places are filled or the Experience is closed.

How do Participants join a hosted Experience?

A User can join a hosted Experience by reviewing the Experience details and completing the required payment.

After joining, the User becomes a Participant and receives access to the relevant Experience information and group communication.

How many Participants can join?

A hosted Experience can have up to 5 Participants, in addition to the Host.

This keeps the group small enough for meaningful interaction between the Host and Participants.

What happens after a Participant joins?

After joining, the Participant becomes part of the hosted Experience and receives access to the relevant Experience information and group communication.

The Participant should be available at the scheduled time and follow any reasonable participation instructions provided for the Experience.

How does the Host conduct the Experience?

The Host conducts the Experience according to the details provided when it was published.

This includes the planned activity, schedule, location, and any relevant participation requirements.

The Host should communicate clearly with Participants and make reasonable efforts to provide the Experience as described.

Completing a requested Experience

How long does a Host have to complete a requested Experience?

A Host normally has 7 days after booking to complete all required delivery items for a requested Experience.

The Requester and Host can coordinate timing through Experio, particularly when a Live session needs to be scheduled.

All required delivery items should be completed within the applicable deadline.

How does the Requester confirm that the Experience was completed?

Once the Host has submitted all required delivery items, the Requester can review them through Experio.

If the Host provided the requested Experience as agreed, the Requester can accept the delivery.

Accepting the delivery confirms that the requested Experience was completed successfully.

What happens if the Requester has a problem with the delivery?

If the Requester believes that the Host did not provide the agreed Experience properly, they can open a dispute during the available review period.

The Requester explains the problem, and the Host may be given an opportunity to respond.

Experio reviews the available information and determines how the transaction should be handled.

When is a requested Experience considered completed?

A requested Experience is completed when all required delivery items have been accepted by the Requester or automatically accepted after the applicable review period.

Once the Experience has been successfully completed, its status is shown as Experienced.

Payments, trust & support

How does payment work on Experio?

Payments for Experiences are made through Experio rather than directly between Users.

For a requested Experience, the Requester pays for the Host's time, effort, and delivery of the Experience they requested. For a hosted Experience, Participants pay to take part in the Experience offered by the Host.

The total price and any applicable Experio service fees are shown before payment is confirmed.

When is the Requester or Participant charged?

For a requested Experience, the Requester is charged when they select a Host and confirm the booking.

For a hosted Experience, a Participant is charged when they join and reserve a place in the Experience.

The amount to be charged is shown before the User confirms the transaction.

When does the Host get paid?

The Host becomes entitled to earnings after the Experience has been successfully completed and any applicable review or dispute period has ended.

Actual payout timing may depend on Experio's payout schedule, the payment provider, banking systems, or other payment-processing requirements.

What fees does Experio charge?

Experio may charge a service fee for transactions made through the platform.

The applicable fee is shown before payment is confirmed, together with the total amount the User will pay.

What happens if an Experience is cancelled?

The payment outcome depends on who cancels the Experience, when the cancellation occurs, and the transaction rules that apply.

Experio may refund, release, or adjust the payment according to the applicable cancellation conditions and the Experio Terms of Service.

How are disputes handled?

If there is a problem with a transaction or delivery, the affected User can open a dispute through Experio.

Experio may review the Experience details, messages, submitted content, and information provided by both sides.

Based on that review, Experio may allow the payment to proceed, adjust the amount, or issue a refund where appropriate.

How do ratings work?

After a successfully completed requested Experience, the Requester can rate the Host.

Ratings help other Users understand a Host's previous Experience history and help build trust within the Experio community.

What should I do if I have a safety concern or problem with another User?

If another User behaves inappropriately or you feel uncomfortable, stop the interaction if necessary and report the issue through Experio.

Experio can review the report and take appropriate action under the Experio Rules.

If there is an immediate danger or emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services instead of relying on Experio Support.

How do I contact Experio Support?

You can contact Experio through the Support section of the Service.

You can also reach Experio Support at support@experio.app for questions or problems relating to your Account, Experiences, payments, disputes, or use of the platform.
